An airship flying high in the sky of a distant world.

A digital illustration I created using 3D modeling software Hexagon 3D 2.5 & 3D Coat ver 4.8. Compositing and painting done with Photoshop CC 2018 & Topaz Studio Impression.

Evening Flight Over the City II

A skycar of the distant future cruises the evening city skyline.

In the background an sky cargo ship leaves the city to delieve it’s freight to an unknown location.

I modeled the car in Groboto3D and 3DCoat 4.8. The cargo ship in Hexagon3D & 3DCoat. Texturing in 3DCoat. Rendered in Poser Pro 11 using comic book option.

Postwork done in Photoshop 2018, Topaz Studio Impression, Filter Forge 7.0 and ArtRage 5 to give it a comic book illustrative look.

Evening Flight Over the City

Another one of my futuristic skycars/spacerods influenced by Heavy Metal magazine and the art of Moebius (aka Jean Giraud).

The owner takes his skycar for an evening cruise over the city skyline.

Modeled in Groboto3D and 3DCoat 4.8. Also textured in 3DCoat. Rendered in Poser Pro 11 using comic book option.

Postwork done in Photoshop 2018, Topaz Studio Impression, Filter Forge 7.0 and ArtRage 5 to give it a comic book illustrative look.

Comic Book version of Space Rod 77

Comic Book version of my future flying hot rod racer vehicle.

Modeled in Groboto3D & 3DCoat. Compositing done in Photoshop CC 2017 & Topaz Impression 2.0.

Rendered in Poser Pro 11.1 with post work in Photoshop CC 2018, Filter Forge 7 & Topaz Studio Impression 2.0.

Traditional Styled Hot Rod Sedan

An Old Skool hot rod powered by a flat head V8. These were the kinds of hot rods that were the norm when I was growing up and one of the reasons I feel in love with the cool cars which were so popular and showcased in all the popular hot rod magazines.

Illustration is based on a 3D model I created from scratch using Hexagon 3D w.5 and Silo 2.0.

Rendered in Daz Studio with 3D Delight renderer. Post work in Photoshop CC 2018, Topaz Studio Impression and Filter Forge 7.0.

Gunship 3D model

A heavy artillery spaceship. I designed the spaceship and modeled in various 3D modeling apps (Groboto3D, Hexaton3D, Wings3D, Silo3D and textured in 3DCoat.
With processing in Adobe Photoshop 2017 and Corel Painter 2017 to give the image a comic book type of illustration.

Airship Over Future City

A steam powered airship flies over a distant, future city in dystopian world. I modeled the airship in Hexagon3D & Groboto. The buildings are the dystopian city blocks from Cornucopia3D. Scene was rendered in Vue Complete 2015 using the NPR settings. With details and adjustments made in Photoshop CC 2015 & ArtRage 4.5.27047993866_564dbf9fe4_b

Hot Rod Sedan

This is my interpretation of a typical American hot rod. Hot rods originated in southern California when returning WWII soldiers wanted to create an American equivalent of the light and nimble sports cars of Europe (MGs, Alfa Romeos, etc). Suped up engines mostly V8s were swapped in place of the original motors. To help improve performance body parts were often removed. Fenders, bumpers, hoods, running boards were often shed to increase the horsepower to weight ratio of the vehicle.

In this image I used a late 1920s, early 1930s sedan body as the basis for the car. Powered by a early model Ford flathead V8 which
is supercharged with three carburetors. The roof of the sedan has been chopped to reduce it’s height.

I created the car from scratch using 3D modeling apps. The bulk of the modeling was done in Hexagon 3D and Silo 3D. For UV mapping I used 3DCoat. Textures were created in Photoshop and applied in Vue Complete 2015, where the scene was  rendered.

Grobo Car update

In this illustration I placed the Grobo Car in an environment influenced by the South Western USA like the desert of Arizona and the salt bed lakes of Utah.

Grobo Car (3D version)

25294907361_6ca0f54700_c

I designed the Grobo Car as a future rear engine hot rod. I modeled the car from scratch using 3D modeling applications Groboto 3D v 3.3 (90%) & Hexagon 3D v 2.5 (10%). The car was textured using shaders in Vue Complete 2015. It was also rendered in Vue Complete. Slight postwork in Photoshop 2015 CC.

The car is influenced by my love of hot rods, American cars of the 1930s to 1950s and foreign sports cars.

I named the vehicle Grobo after Groboto 3D of which I did the bulk of the modeling in…

The 2D version of my Grobo car can be seen here
